Lawrence Zeller From 2008 through 2013, School of Seven Bells was one of the most creative, enthralling bands in my library. I cried when I heard that Benjamin Curtis passed away, and it still chokes me up to think about it. Darkswoon has captured the essence of SVIIB so beautifully and added their own creative flair. I can't tell you how much it warms my soul to hear this sparking sweet music. Favorite track: Parting Embrace.

Red Ferrari 05:58
I hear your voice in my head at times and in my dreams you call me on a landline I hear you judge I need a response imagined conversations I need a seance Do you remember when we die? like of College Street we lay on concrete under the red sky I was a liar but I felt full a red pill on my tongue with an alien girl And I'm sorry I will not cut your back to feel your warm blood Red Ferrari I should not have come back to feel your warm blood You cut the line between your world and mine

This Flesh 03:35
Spending my small wealth on mental health a fortune on a false sun the simulation of how it feels to run my heart is heavy I feel it's weight in tons breathing in micro-organisms this is a test a test a test I feel the weight of my breasts would I feel more complete without this flesh all I want to do is rest and give my best to the ones I love I'm not male I'm not girl I'm not broken I'm not done
3.
Human Faults 04:37
You want me in the peripheral so I won't get caught in your eye is this illusion optical or arterial you are a dark vessel a swinging pendulum at night my heart is a quick drum you tell me it's still beating Here in the dark kiss my birthmarks forgive my human faults I know what you're made of your darkness feels like love a deep cut with salt I felt I was calling the devil a wolf herding sheep you're here with me in this waking sleep

Fireplace 04:25
I hope you find your spotless mind and the value of knowing me someday I hope you can realize why I did not respond to words I wish you'd not say Each drink you pour plumes of smoke exit your sour mouth I can picture the fireplace you extinguish me you extinguish me just to incinerate I burn your name the memory of your face I burn your pain I can picture the fireplace
7.
The sound in a void the sound in a vacuum the language of loss air sucked from a room I don't want to forget the look in your eyes to tell you I love you and please be ok I remembered in the secret void you mean everything embrace the cycle I feel like the northwestern sky above the 47th parallel I feel like a volunteer for a game of William Tell embrace the cycle

about

"Darkswoon is an electronic shoegaze band from Portland, OR. Originating as the bedroom project and primary creative outlet of Jana Cushman, Darkswoon has since evolved into an energetic trio, with Cushman crooning on vocals and guitar, Rachel Ellis stacking the electronic backbone of danceable beats and haunting synth lines, and all of it punctuated by the intelligent, rhythmic basslines of Andrew Michael Potter. The band evokes old school goth and post punk of early 4AD label darlings, but maintains a modern edge and originality.
Their album 'BIND' (February 9th 2019) is Darkswoon's first release with Icy Cold Records, an independent label in cooperation with Manic Depression Records. The band can also be heard on the soundtrack for the newly released indie film ‘My Summer As A Goth’."

“Darkswoon’s latest full length, ‘Bind’, represents a quantum leap in their sound. Fans of austere electronic acts like The Knife, Austra and Eurythmics will find the mechanical precision of their synth leads and drum grooves addicting while followers of blissed-out guitar pop are sure to be delighted with the ambience Cushman invokes with her ethereal vocals and blurry guitar lines.” - Pete Cottell (Willamette Week)
